Why do middleweight boxers believe they have a chance against cruiserweights?

Canelo had to Bulk up to 174lbs and thinks he could beat Usyk at cruiserweight where Usyk would weigh in at 199lbs, or heavyweight if he agrees to weigh in no heavier than 201

Canelo had no answers for the naturally bigger guy Bivol who probably cut a bit to make weight and rebounded to 180lbs+

It must feel somewhat humiliating being any division below heavyweight tbh. So you'll always get guys below heavyweight acting like they'd do well in a heavier division.

Legit, the whole idea of "Pound for Pound king" is utterly laughable also

Depends

Roy Jones jr was a middleweight and went all the way up to heavyweight and won a title through pure skill and athleticism

Easy to say after the fight... Before this, everyone was on Canelo's nuts. And, RJJ/Toney went from middleweight to heavyweight, so it's not unheard of

I just need to take some rage out today by talking shit about sub heavyweight males
My real hatred lies with sub 130lb gimps like this

The fact that he was already talking about potentially fighting Usyk down the line goes to show how he took Bivol too lightly.
I'd still favour Bivol in a potential rematch though, utterly dominated Canelo and the scorecards didn't reflect the fight accurately (as is often the case with Canelo fights).

Pound for pound is not about moving above your class tho. It’s a way to figure out who is the best overall exactly because people fight in different divisions.
