Why do millennials think they matter ?

Idk if everyone the millennials around me are just stupid, but somehow they think they can change shit in, for example, politics.
Maybe it's because they grew up in a world where stuff did happen (Berlin wall, etc) but it's just stupid.
Like it's embarrassing to say, but my mom thought if Trump were to see some stupid video she got from Facebook, he would change his mind about Ukraine.
