i think thats why a lot of NT communication feels weird to me, they feel less like actual communication and more like a competition to see who can smugly insult each other the most rather than just saying what they mean directly

Yeah, I can relate. I don't think I'm representative of neurodivergence, but I suppose I may lack depth when it comes to conveying or even experiencing the typical spectrum of emotions/thoughts. I'd rather be around people who can communicate effectively without a subconscious that moderates how they feel. Maybe I'm too pragmatic for my own good. Or perhaps I'm retarded and in denial. We'll never truly know.
