My parents went from extreme communist marxists that drank alcohol in the 80's to turbo religious muslim wishing death on Israel and hoping for an islamic state.

The only real muslims/christians/jews i truly respect are the ones that began their beliefs since their teens

Being religious is a halo if you don't follow the rules

what if I was giga religious in teens, never missing prayer, avoid speaking to girls etc. but now haven’t prayed in years, haram relationship/zina etc.:feelsthink:

I’ve rationalized it as allah rewarding me for my hardships, steadfastness and piety… I will become religious af again in my 40s

I guess since they are getting older. they probably want god to forgive them so that they don’t go to hell. better safe then sorry:blackpill:

People don't want to come to terms with the fact that there's almost certainly nothing after death.

They'd rather believe that there's an almighty being who decides if we get to live in paradise or hell forever, than believe the more likely scenario that death is more like just holding down the power button on a computer that will never turn back on again.

People mostly embrace Marxism when they are young. But by the time they are middle-aged, they usually switch sides and start to identify with capitalism, conservatism and/or religion more often.
Peter Hitchens was like this as well. He was a Marxist in his younger years and ended up living in the Soviet Union for a bit.
But he quickly came to realize that communism doesn't work and as he got older, he abandoned those beliefs and ended up becoming a Christian again.

Atheists are worst. Agnostics are the most realistic

World is not that complicated, we are just animals .
The best we can do is to find peace on life and then disappear forever.
Religion has given order an peace to too many people, I think that's enough to be respected.

I for one am still a 100% hardcore nihilist at the age of 40 and am pretty sure I will still be a nihilist when I die.

One interesting line I heard from a preacher recently is that "you need to be young, able bodied, to sin". By old age indulgence will probably lose it's allure by both you being physically unable and pleasure getting old, so it makes sense people in older age would turn to religion

Fear the end

It's a coping mechanism cause they know they are going to die soon

Look at all the young religious people you shit faced cunt

Lmao they think that if they get religious real quick, then God is going to forget or forgive their debauchery that they lived for most of their life, when they die.

Nigga I'm gonna hate God until my last breath, and if he does exist then I can't wait to debate with that nigga on why I hate his ass, even though he should already know.

Also I can't believe bosniaks where never not religious, even during communist times. See, this just goes to show that:

thousands of years of man-made religion and culture/traditional values< millions of years of human evolution geared towards survival and pleasure

This, even as an atheist, this is still an extremely depressing thought.
