Whenever I bring the topic of "looking better" or "improving myself",my parents always disagree w me. Like when I ask for braces ,they're like "it's fine the way it is rn,no need" or the time when I asked for a palate expander. Even though we're not poor, they still do this.

Because appearances were not nearly as important in their time, and brainwashing by the mainstream media/society about bluepilled fairy tales that dont hold up anymore in the modern day, they just simply cant comprehend how essential looks are today because they never needed them yesterday

There were still plenty of ugly people back then, we just have less records of them because we took way more photographs/videos/etc of the GL people than the rest, at least imo

Back then, you could be bald and ugly and still not worry about pulling a wife, I think mens aesthetics were genuinely just less necessary and inflated back then compared to status and money (which was 100x more plentiful)

so right

They are your parents and they support/care for you. Of course they will say stuff like that. Try to talk with them about your self-care and being happy about your looks, otherwise save up some money and do it yourself
