Why do people act like you're not responsible for what you do when drunk?

I've always seen this excuse ever since I was a child: "Oh he was drunk". Attempting to excuse and justify certain behaviour or actions.

Nowadays I realize that's a big lie. As someone who can drink bottles of whiskey in one night, never did I ever do or say something that I didn't mean to, or regret anything. I was myself at any time, just nearly zero inhibition or care.

Someone who becomes an asshole drunk has too much shit that he's not saying and hiding and at that point just can't hold themselves no more, but it's almost always how they trully feel...

If you know that you can't control yourself when you're drunk but you still choose to drink, everything that you do while drunk is your responsibility.

I reckon you can control yourself. I personally can, no matter how drunk.

If we were talking about a person whose brain has suffered damaged from addiction/s then that's another matter. But that's no average people.

Being black out is completely different from being drunk in some degree, but you shouldn't get in that state regardless.

What a cope, just because you’re an alcoholic doesn’t mean you can project your feelings.

Alcohol lowers your inhibitions, so you tend to do/say things you wouldn’t when you’re sober.

idk i did some dumb shit when i first started drinking. You just learn to control it better with tolerance.
