Why do people automatically stop hating people once they look better

I've known these 2 peoplewho really hated each other. Like they hated each other for no reason at all, like beef on first sight. But like once one of them had like a kinda glow up, the other one didn't want to have beef no more, n like it makes no sense just because the other person started looking a lil better, that they didn't want to like hate them no more, n now they are kinda friends, and it still shocks me to this day.
