Why do people bring their babies to the library??

I'm at the university library trying to study right now, I'm in a classroom like setting and there's a mother sitting on the bench next to me with her baby in her lap. She's a south-european looking mtb, about 25-30 with this look in her eyes like she's blasé as all hell and she just doesnt gaf about anything anymore. She's got her hair in a bun, and despite wearing yoga pants and a sweater covering almost all of her body I can still count at least 5 assorted shitty line art tattoos on her hands and neck.

Her baby has been crying intermittently for like 2 hours and everytime he starts crying she audibly sighs and can't even bear to look at him, like boo hoo woe is her she has to take care of her fucking child. She's not even doing anything she's just been sat scrolling tiktok for hours, with what seems to be mostly just movie clips with subway surfers gameplay. I'm 90% sure the baby was unplanned and conceived with somebody at the uni during a party lol.

Like what's the point? Can't you just do this shit at home or for that matter anywhere else but the library where you're expected not to be a nuisance? I'm just gonna move to another department cause I'd look like a total asshole telling her off, what am I even supposed to say? "Hello miss can you tell your baby to shut the fuck up?"

She's probably a student herself though, we can only enter the library with our campus access cards. She if anybody should know how frustrating this shit is

It's annoying as all hell with babies on airplanes but at least it's understandable, like there's no other choice you can't put the little fucker in the cargo or leave them at home. Hanging out at the library with your colicky baby is completely optional
