Because that’s what boomers did back when they were 18, essentially a McDonald’s tier job in the 70s could allow you to move out of your parents house and be an adult, but with our current economy you wouldn’t be able to move out till after you’re done college and hopefully land a decent job, for the majority of people that would be early 20s
