why do people get angry that i don't make eye contact

it seems like it offends people when I don't make eye contact while speaking to them

when i take people's orders i stare down at the tablet instead of looking into their eyes while ordering & they get progressively ruder

when my coworkers try to talk to me they look at my face but i look down . eventually they stopped trying to talk to me and just talk to eachother (even tho i talk to them i just dont make eye contact)

the other day my doctor tried to badger me into therapy because "oh you don't make eye contact, you seem very anxious . this will affect you in the future"

why does this bother people so much? it's uncomfortable to make eye contact & it's unnecessary. why should i be doing it?

Its just plain rude bro, i also dont like it but it shows your paying attention looking away especially when your looking at something indicates youre not paying attention

I know how you feel man im also in the same boat. Just learn to do it people think youre shy and timid if you dont (maybe a very autistic thing to do but if you have to you can seriously practice looking in peoples eyes in video just search up: eyecontact training)

Maybe not acknowledging them as a ‘threat’? In the sense of the evolutionary standpoint you dont deem them worthy of your attention.
