There's also a randomness aspect to it, you receive two copies of a gene and it possible for an 'unattractive' gene to be more dominant than an 'attractive' gene.
Ex:
- Broad nose vs narrow; broad is more dominant;
- Blue eyes vs brown; blue is recessive but its more attractive than brown. But nature doesn't care.

A blue eyed person can still carry a gene for brown eyes and has a chance of passing it down to his kids. Hence its impossible to completely breed out unattractive traits.
