But when it comes to women, the gatekeepers of reproduction, suddenly caring about proxies for genetic health doesn't matter? Because the looks standard for men is much lower. Women are supposed to look better than their partner and it's usually the case so people assume looks for men are not that important.

People have been indoctrinated to believe that women are these perfect, morally virtuous beings so they can't come to terms with the fact that they may possess superficial traits like caring a lot about looks. When people suggest that they care a lot about looks, these indoctrinated men have this white knight instinct to defend m'ladys character against those 'evil incels'.

The reason for this indoctrination is that if men were to discover just how much they value looks, their support for feminism would plummet and that's not in the best interests of the elites or women. So they both lie about it.
