Why do people not let there hair grow out?

Growing your hair out and maintaining it and making it look nice can take a 5 to a 5.5 depending on flaws so why not?
It was obviously never about the hair thou but it does help more than people think you can use your hair to fraud your flaws such as your eye area to a extent or your forehead if you have a massive one
