You're looking at it too simplistically. It's more like prolonged isolation, humiliation, resentment, feeling powerless and eventually wanting some form of revenge. That doesn't justify it all, but it explains how someone can get to that point mentally.

I think it's more about revenge, making other people feel the pain they experienced, gaining some sense of power or control, and maybe even getting some sort of satisfaction from it.

the idea is that people get so convinced society is wrong and that something needs to be fixed

as a normal person, you have no way of changing things in the political landscape / society without some extremely long lifelong journey. the easiest way to “make” people listen is by making the news in some way like that. it may seem like he died for nothing but the impact he has made on many in various communities is noticeable and has succeeded in pushing a movement bigger than just himself.

Yeah this is true I’ve been bullied alot basically whole life until 2 years ago so I get hating people. Just never enough to ruin my life for them. It’s like giving them power in the end because history will view you as the crazy shooter and them as the innocent victims. Only subsets of people will think your “a hero” Elliot is a prime example

yup, but ER didn’t see another way. detesting society is very easy & i personally think people are disgusting and retarded. I’ve pondered the idea but I don’t think i have the capacity to do anything somewhat similar (although i’m doing something minor soon, stay chooned for the post). It is however scary how easily someone can fall into it.
