why do people still refute that your looks and height will determine the quality of your life?

I was talking with my dad and he told me how tall I had gotten in the past two years (I went from being stuck at 5'8 to 6'1 now at 17) and by mistake I told him that it was a good thing and that I felt as if my life had started only recently. He obviously told me my argument that 'life starts at a certain height was ridiculous', but then when I explained to him that I only started to get more attention from girls my age after getting taller he didn't know what to say. I feel like nobody understands how much I struggled during my early teen years due to being a late bloomer and whenever I tried to open up to people they said I was being foolish.

Why did God have to make me like this?
