Why do recessed people look weak?
Millions of years of evolution. On a subconscious level, we assess the status and “rank” of other people, just like other primates do. And ultimately, it’s all connected to survival.
There are studies suggesting that children with recessed jaws and chins are more likely to experience bullying than those without these features. Researchers have also found that our brains can rapidly assess social status and “rank” based on visual and physical cues.
When we look at ourselves in the mirror, our brain is also processing those same signals. We can subconsciously interpret ourselves as more or less dominant, threatening, confident, etc.
We literally feel more relaxed when we see someone with a very recessed or unattractive face on the street. And, on the other hand, when we see someone with a well-developed jaw and face, we may become more alert or tense.
Body language matters too. For example, when you visibly take up more space, you signal that you’re not afraid to occupy your surroundings. When you walk around with your chest open, your neck exposed, your shoulders back, basically walking like an arrogant fucking primate, even when you’re NOT IN PUBLIC, NOT AROUND OTHER PEOPLE, but completely alone at home, your testosterone may temporarily increase.
The idea is that your brain can interpret your own body language as a signal of confidence and fearlessness.
I’ll probably tweet later about the evolutionary and biological reasons behind hypergamy. I also want to make a thread about why pretty boys are generally considered more attractive to girls in our society than “ogres,” because, in my opinion, a lot of this comes down to the chaotic nature of evolution.
This is just my theory. Open to hearing your thoughts
