Why do so many asians get double eyelid surgery

I don’t get why so many asians go for double eyelid surgery. It’s a looksmin on a lot of faces. Monolids can look clean and aesthetic + it's literally a free hunter eye.

Most of the time the surgery ends up looking fake or off. Plus it’s expensive and not even guaranteed to last. Seems like a waste.

Maybe it’s nichemaxxing for certain countries' standards. What do you guys think
