why do some people believe in god

If by reality you mean ideas and matter (literally substance) then god exists, he's just transcendent.
what makes u believe he or the idea of god exists in the first place?

I want proof that there is a god.
Any kind you are willing to offer.
I know you didn't ask me, however I do believe there is a god.

Just not in the way we were taught.

There have been thousands of religions during mankind, what makes one believe theirs IS the one and only, true religion?

I guess that makes me agnostic, in a way

Are u ragebaiting
what do you even mean by proof? if some empirical bullshit then no cuz god is transcendent as i said before

that imagination is self-refuting though cuz materially there's no your son. you cannot imagine him as a material being as he supposed to be, so even in a thought it's impossible

There are actual niggas out there rn who think DNA, just a miniscule part of a cell, came from evolution. We dont even need to bring up the other components of a cell to prove the complexity of life.

This is true because a chemical reaction cant cause a biochemical reaction which creates life.

But that doesnt mean God exists. Even if he does exist, then he already programmed us through nature.

JFL at thinking random schizo autistic men actually recieved guidance from God :feelskek:

i don't really have an ideology further expanded than what I explained

just that there is a supernatural power in some kind of way, be it a god or something else.

it is true that for something to exist it has to created, we couldn't have just *Poof* and the Earth exists.

however, I don't believe christianity/islam/buddhism/whatever religion/ to be the truth or any of the current leading religions.

out of all religions I do agree with some of christianity's morals and stuff rather than any other religion, maybe because I've grown up in a christian household.

actual existence is also a concept:what::what::what::what:
so actual existence by that definition is just conceptual. it's just incoherent lol

the claim that religion is cope for death? I'd say I mostly agree.

it'd be easier to convince an atheist to believe in my ideology rather than a religious person. (If that's your goal, don't force ur opinion on her)

ive recently talked to a foid about this and she kinda opened my eyes what she said was:

that religion is a cope for people scared of death and for the people in power to control the citizens (since they all have many rules which kind of go against what a human would do in "nature")

and i used to be very Christian so im wondering if anyone could counter this argument and make me go back to Christianity
You can’t have been very religious if hearing one foids take on it completely changed your mind

No point in trying to regain half hearted faith anyway

Bro, that girl just gave you the 2014 /r/atheism copypasta. It felt like a blackpill because you’d never heard it said out loud before; every ex-Christian gets hit with that exact take and feels the same “whoa” moment.

Two quick reality checks:
  1. “Cope for death” doesn’t prove it’s false. Atheists cope with death too (kids, legacy, SSRIs, whatever). And as NDEs and consciousness research get weirder, the “it’s just wishful thinking” line is looking shakier every year.
  2. If religion was really an elite control tool, why is every elite institution today rabidly anti-Christian and pushing the opposite morals? Christianity spent 2000 years executing kings who thought they were gods and banning the exact degenerate shit the current elite want normalized.
Most importantly: the resurrection minimal facts (empty tomb + post-mortem appearances + sudden explosion of the church in the one city where it could be debunked in a weekend) are accepted by like 95 % of scholars, even the atheist ones. The naturalistic explanations all collapse when you actually read the sources. Takes 30 min to look into (Gary Habermas on YouTube). That single thing pulled me back from the same spot you’re in now.

You don’t have to larp as a churchcel tomorrow. Just don’t let a foid’s Reddit take be the final boss of your worldview. Check one serious counter-argument before you fully sign off on it. If it’s still bullshit after that, fair. But at least you’ll know you actually looked.

people only believe in God when they're struggling and religion brings them comfort or they got programmed into believing and don't question out of themselves

i’ll play devils advocate and tell you it’s christianity as it believes there is a god but unlike the rest god doesn’t NEED you to fill out a checklist to be saved. (not saved by works ie.)
