Why do some people look better in Black and White Photos?

Is it due to poor quality of skin and imperfections?

I have top tier coloring yet I look like shit sometimes, my skin is overall dog shit, and i have small red bumps everywhere that kind of ruin my harmony and coloring.

Could that be the reason why?
