Why do some people only respect me when I stop being polite to them?

Tf is wrong with these people. I have to tell them to stfu or confront them in front of other people so they stop acting petty. People I never started to be friendly to always seem to treat me better than other people too.

Most people nowadays have low self esteem and are submissive push overs, its because of society becoming higher e focused.
