Why do they always put random shit in Tv-Shows (Breaking Bad, Sopranos)

Two of the best shows ever, but somehow they put so much random shit in them, especially in the erlier seasons. Could have been perfect shows but they had to put this.

I think this was supposed to emphasis the fact that Sklyer had a higher SMV than Hank. And thus provide additional insight into the motivations that drove Hank to be a drug dealer. TBH, I never found Skyler to be particularly attractive.

It's to make the world more fleshed out in the sopranos cuz it's a show about the american lifestyle in the 90s-00s and for breaking bad it was to reasonably lead in to the s4 plot with ted and the irs

Breaking Bad is better, but Better Call Saul was still good.

It just had way less tension cause you knew where the characters would end up and it was fairly obvious which characters would die, in Breaking Bad you were at the edge of your seat every episode
