Youre not retarded. Family and friends are meaningless, and you dont need to have any prospects yet, those things will come with your growth as a person, especially if youre good looking. A job can be found, all you need to do is be somewhat likeable, and that can be learned. You're not supposed to be yourself, youre supposed to be who others want you to be, because thats how you fit in and get to places. Thats my personal opinion tho.
