The most recent example from my country is Latinos who voted for Trump complaining about Trump deporting them.

I think atleast part of it is because of how strong identity politics and the culture war are

Like let’s say you’re a purple person and the media convinces you the Party A hates purple people.

But in reality voting for party A is actually more in your interest then voting for party B

Most people would still vote for party B then to actually bother thinking for once.

Republics and democracies alike are built on manipulating the masses. You must get whatever vote you can and that is precisely why extremism fails.

i think its because people were uncertain about harris, she was hated by her own party back in 2020 for being to moderate/police officer/ too tough on crime.

biden would be in opposition against trump but his administration would silently promote the wall or block things from stopping continuation

trump is known and people want change whether good or bad but i doubt anyone expected trump to be this publicly corrupt
