Does anyone know?

Prolonged exposure to cold (and we're not talking about putting an icecube on your face for 10 mintues) causes an increase in bone metabolic markers, specifically PTH, Ca2+ and Pi. This increases the bone turnover rapidly which ultimately leads to resorption.

So how long would I need to ice my bones for a day?

This is if you are in a very calorie deficit state(your body starts using your muscles as fuel), which, if you're already in that stage, you would be better off just dead.

It doesn't work like that. You can't target specific areas if it's because you want to spot reduce an area where you have overt bone growth.

You would have to live in a very cold climate for many years, or you would have to be an avid ice swimmer (full body submersion).
