Why does it get progressively difficult to ascend?

because as u improve on ur flaws it gets harder to fix them and the lesser the impact u can provide to ur apperance by softmaxxing and alot of them require surgical procedures and severe flaws require high risk surgerys

Softmaxxing will only take you so far. Ascends you for sure but it won't do miracles. You think people like Ehren or Androgenic would be anywhere close without hardmaxxing of some kind (surgery or steroids)

Depends on your base, how rich you are and how much you're willing to sacrifice your health.
