Why does Jake gyllenhaal look worse leaner?

Is it something to do with his bone structure? If so what is it? How can u tell if you’ll look better leaner or not

His eyes become sunken and he looks malnourished. His role in Nightcrawler really shows how abnormal he looks at a lower bf %.

it;'s mainly his eye area which looks worse. he loses a lot of fat around his eyes. Jake isn't even all that attractive anyway.

by getting leaner and seeing

signs of aging (low skin elasticity, nuked fat pads, thin skin, etc)
if youre young you have nothing to worry about
+ he was starved for that role
