Why does lack of blood flow increase osteoclasts?

Well osteoclasts desolve the mineral non organic tissue in the bones, freeing up the calcium, phosphorus collagen and magnesium so it can be used by the starving cells like osteoblasts, osteocytes and osteoclasts themselves. Less blood = less external nutrients, so they scavange what they get in their immediate surroundings

Could putting ice on bones cause same thing?
