turning a face picture upside down, I start to look better (flaws aren't as visible)
my guess is , that our brains are trained to immediately recognize genetic failures by their facial structure, however we always see them when their face is in it's normal position. When you look at a picture sideways or upside down, your brain is too stupid to extrapolate and still recognize flaws as well as before.
