this is prob it. shampoo will change the texture of ur hair compared to js water. plus the way in which u dry ur hair matters too. if u js scrunch w a towel, u will end up w flatter hair like the first pic, but if u blowdry PROPERLY w a diffuser or js carefully then i think u will get smthing closer to the second pic
