Planned obsolescence.
Thats most of tech these days tbf, cant even install windows 11 on some laptops bcuz they design it so shit and can only make it usable via linux

Yeah. And besides that I'd much rather windows 10 and refuse to update my 6 year old computer to windows 11. My mother has a windows 11 one and it's much less pleasant to use imo

They're doing planned obsolescence with cars too. Lots of modern ones are made very poor quality and will get impractical to repair after a certain age. Older cars in general are much more sensible to repair and unless you have a rusted frame, they're worth repairing usually. They do this even with riding mowers. Most older ones with large decks were fitted with vtwin engines that can make a lot of power without being stressed much and last a very long time. Many new ones have large single cylinder engines that make the same power, but sound worse and last often less than half as long. My 17 year mower with a Briggs vtwin is still going with 300 hours of hard use. Good luck seeing that with these newer machines with the Kohler courage engines that often barely make it to 100 hours with normal conditions
