If you use medical lingo such as “ramus” or “maxillomandibular retrusion” a lot of surgeons get super defensive , like wtf lol. It’s like they want their clients to be 80 IQ morons who just do fillers. I talk to my surgeon about how I feel my chin isn’t resessive but that both my upper and lower jaw is setback and he looks at me like a crazy person, what gives.

LMAO I actually had that exact same thing happen during the first consultation with my surgeon, difference being he didn't even know what a ramus was and got angry when I said that I have an online community which is giving me advice. :lul: :lul:

bringing up medical jargon is aspie tbh I'd just point it out using everyday language

lmao @ maxillomandibular retrusion

even surgeons probably have to think for a second to even conclude what that is

90% of plastic surgeon just care about money.

So when you come in their office and you show them that you know a lot about aesthetics and stuff and sometime you know better than them, they're like "what the fuck is he saying and who's this guy"

its because its more likely that someone who throws out a lot of these terms has BDD, and wont be satisfied by the result no matter what.

no, also every surgeon has a style and habits about surgeries. they don't feel safe with a patient like that.

Docs don't want clever patients that know more than them, they like to imagine they are the cleverest guy in the room, and they like to get your money and do shit without you noticing. I sent some dry eye studies to some eye doc and he cut the communication at that point.

I e even been a step ahead of my own ortho for MSE which the first one failed because we didnt do corticopuncture like I suggested. I use the correct jargon and she'll act like she's never heard of the terminology either because she doesn't know or im just sperging out.

To them it's just a routine but for us, it's our reality.
