I think this has to do more with the setting rather than your looks. Even if you looked like a supermodel and were causally walking in the mall, girls —especially in a group— won't come up to you and start a conversation. Eye contact, stares and perhaps giggling would be signs that they are attracted to you, but approaching men in public settings isn't something girls normally do with friends. In the club of course it would be different.

Try not to take cues like this as a sign of poor looks.
