Why don’t ppl talk about buccinator myectomy more often. Literally gives you the look u get from biting your cheeks.

I know eppley is the only one who does this often, but why? This would be a wildly popular procedure if marketed better.

I’m getting it done along with buccal fat removal (and he’s putting the buccal fat in my midface paranasal region to add anterior volume to my flat midface) and a sliding genio.

Eppley wrote “one of the only risks of doing an aggressive buccinator myectomy is tightness of the cheeks” like being too taught and sucked in. Wel hell if that’s the downside let’s do it! I’m sick of having puffy childish cheeks. I want bone dry thin cheek skin that’s tight and adds dimension to my face.

Thanks for mentioning this operation as I would have never heard of this absent this thread. And that statement alone reiterates the problem exactly as you stated it. It appears cosmetic plastic surgeons (save for an exceptional few) have the hardest time marketing the results of their work. Which for plastic surgery really is as simple as posting a before/after photo.

The craziest thing is Eppley actually photos of the surgical operation in question but none of the before/after pics (the photos which give customers the most information!).

Lack of marketing for sure. But I still do not understand why plastic surgeons have such a hard time with this.

Probably people doing surgery for cosmetic reasons don't allow to share the photos vs people doing it to fix a real malformation.

This would make sense if the photos of the buccal myectomy done on the patient weren't already being shared on Eppley's page.

Patient agrees to show the before- and during-process of the surgery but not the after-process? The after-process is the entire point!:ROFLMAO:

Even more doubtful when Taban successfully has the entire first page of Google Images plastered with his before/afters along with a Youtube, Facebook, Instagram and external website of the same.

OP called it right. Eppley is part of a long generation/US/European culture of plastic surgeons that suck at or don't care for basic marketing.

What’s the difference?
they are two total different procedures. Buccal fat pad removal is removing a pad of fat. Buccinator myectomy is literally cutting part of the inside of your cheek out (mucosa, fat, and muscle) and then suturing it up and tightening it.

The myectomy plus buccal fat removal plus moving the buccal fat to the midface around 8k
Why would you want to move it to mid face? Isn’t buccal lipectomy better than buccal fat removal so why would you do both?

Buccal lipectomy is the same as buccal fat removal. And moving it to the anterior portion of the midface fixes flat tired look under eyes

Buccinator myectomy is a different procedure than buccal lipectomy

What does myectomy do alongside fat removal? Does moving it to the mid face act better than peek implants for tear troughs etc?

I think there’s confusion here.

Buccal fat removal (also called buccal lipectomy): removal of the FAT PAD in your cheek. This fat is very healthy and durable unlike liposuctioned fat, so it is a good option to use this fat and move it to the midface for more midface volume. The effect can be similar to midface implants but I’d say slightly inferior to implants but superior too because it’s natural and you don’t need to screw foreign material onto your bone. It can definitely help that sunken tired deflated midface look.

Buccinator myectomy: the buccinator is a MUSCLE not fat. This procedure removes muscle tissue, mucosa, and some fat, from the inside of your cheek. It is like what happens when you bite the inside of your cheek. Combined with buccal fat removal can be a more dramatic result.

I learned all this from a book on Amazon called “looksmaxing guide to the essential 35” which I am CERTAIN a user here wrote lol. But it’s a good straightforward guide. I actually knew about buccal fat removal of course but I found out about the buccinator myectomy from it.

Ahh thanks for explaining yes that is some deep stuff I’d say most people don’t understand. So when you say it is move to the mid face as in your eye region or around nose? I wanted to get orbital time implants but if that could do the same job I’d call up eppley. I wonder what he charged for just buccal fat removal and not the other stuff

Put your finger in your mouth and feel where your upper lip attaches to the base of your nose from the inside. The fat pad is shoved up abovee there between your nose and your cheekbones.

Yep. It’s the same as any other fat transfer to the midface, but using better fat.
