The big 3 of Hair-loss
Which one mogs?
INTRODUCTION
Whaddup ma niggas, this is my first ever guide so I'll try to make it as brief and informative as possible.
This guide is simply about their effectiveness, pros and cons, and ease of adhering to and NOT everything that you need to know.
So please do your own research.
If you've ever searched about hair loss prevention, it's impossible for you to not come across one of these.
But how do these prevention drugs work exactly?
More importantly, what's the superior prevention medication to ward off the slap head curse?
Minoxidil:
Comes in two forms: Topical and Oral
Firstly,
Topical Minoxidil:
Main mechanisms of action:
1.Vasodilation and Blood Flow to the hair follicles, which enhances oxygen and nutrient delivery to the follicles.
2.Minoxidil prolongs the growth phase (also known as the anagen phase) and shortens the resting phase (telogen phase) of the hair life cycle.

1. Can be used at any age as it does not alter with hormones
2. Extremely low (practically none) systemic absorption, allows for highly localized effect in the areas applied such as the crown and temples.
3. Unlike the two 5-ARIs, topical minoxidil can be used to grow hair anywhere such as your eyebrows and not just the scalp.
Cons:
1. Hard to adhere to, as you have to carefully apply it to your scalp while avoiding your hair. Then massaging it into the scalp for proper absorption.
2. Time consuming, not to mention you have to wait 4 hours for liquid minoxidil to dry before you can wash or wet your hair.
3. Does not block DHT, the main hormone responsible for male pattern baldness.
4. Requires daily application. Missing one week on vacation can mean starting all over again as the half life is roughly 22 hours.
5. Can cause skin irritation for some people.
6. Cucked absorption if you're using hair oils or products that build up in the scalp
Oral Minoxidil:
Main mechanism of action:
Same as Topical Minoxidil, just the conversion to minoxidil sulfate (the active form) happens in the liver and not in the hair follicle.
Pros:
1. Much easier to adhere to.
2. Less time consuming.
3. Much better overall absorption, especially if you use hair products.
Cons:
1. Unnecessary or excessive body body hair growth.
2. Very high systemic absorption, can't be localized and focused on main balding spots.
3. Bloating, as Minoxidil is a vasodilator which can cause the body to retain more sodium and water.
4. Oral minoxidil was initially created to treat high blood pressure, by vasodilating blood vessels it can cause your blood pressure to drop sharply. This will cause a bunch of side effects such as dizziness, elevated heart rate, heart palpitations etc.
5. Inference with other medications
6. Requires daily dosing just like topical.
Finasteride:
Main Mechanism of action:
Inhibits conversion of testosterone to DHT by blocking type 2 5-alpha-reductase (5AR)
Pros:
1. Blocks DHT by 70%, the main hormone responsible for androgenic alopecia.
2. Easy to adhere to.
Cons:
1. Requires daily dosing due to short half life of 8 hours.
2. Molecular weight of under 400 g/mol (at 372.5), meaning that it crosses the blood brain barrier (BBB) very easily.
3. Does not block type 1 5AR.
4. Cannot be started before 16 as DHT is the most important for driving penile growth during puberty. After 16 to 18, DHT is pretty much useless.
5. Potentially Lower sex drive reported by 1-3% of users, usually by older individuals in their 50s, although very rare and not proven.
Dutasteride:
Main mechanism of action:
Blocks type 1 and type 2 5AR
Pros:
1. Suppresses 90-99% of DHT, both type 1 and type 2. Making it much more effective and potent for androgenic alopecia/hair loss.
2. Reduces sebum production as a side benefit by blocking type 1 DHT. Which helps reduce breakouts, improves skin elasticity, collagen, and overall skin quality and slowing down signs of skin aging.
3. Missing a week will not effect your progress as it has a much longer half life of 5 weeks.
4. Super easy to adhere to.
5. Molecular weight of 528.5 g/mol. The threshold to cross the BBB is between 400 to 600 g/mol, meaning that dutasteride has a much harder time crossing the BBB. Which potentially explains why some people report higher side effects on Fin even though it's much less potent at blocking DHT.
6. Similarly to accutane, gives you a smaller nose overtime by reducing sebaceous glands and filaments in your nose.
Cons:
1. Just like Fin, not recommended to start before 18.
2. Lower sex drive. (once again very rare and not proven with 5ARIs so ur just gonna have to trust me bro.)
In Conclusion:
Dut terra mogs Fin and Min for anti-aging and hair mogging in your 40s
