the first thing we will look at
is what makes glucose majorly superior: ATP/O2 PR ratio

what is the ATP/O2 PR rate?
in short, its how much ATP you can generate with the rate of oxygen.
main factor is the P/O (Phosphate to oxygen ratio).

glucose oxidation: 2.58-2.7 ATP per oxygen atom

fat oxidation:~2.33 ATP per oxygen atom

what benefits does this prove?
mitochondria can more efficiently generate ATP using the same amount of oxygen
with glucose then fat oxidation

what does this serve?

Faster ATP generation
Increased CO2 production
Higher ATOP throught
Lower stress hormone (never stress bby:p)
Lower ROS
Activation of PDH

what many argue is that fat oxidation of palmitate yields
3x more general ATP then glucose.

but this is nearly irrelevant due to many reasons.

General ATP generation:

glucose oxidatin - 32 ATP
fat oxidation - 106 ATP

why is this useless?

ATP demand isn't based by the amount of molecules and general ATP is limited by enzyme and oxygen availability.
due to the better P/O ratio of glucose it can be more efficiently used with the same oxygen amount then fatty acids.
this leads to quicker ATP turnover which is ideal for tissues requiring fast and quick energy in these terms,

speed>quantity

another reason why fat oxidation is inferior is it
increases ROS more then glucose
this leads to:
Increased superoxide
More oxidative stress (high cortisol:hnghn:)
Higher amount of prelipid oxidation


glucose is generally a cleaner fuel for your cells
