I would like to appeal the decision to prohibit gore content in the Off Topic section.
One of the things that made this forum unique was that it allowed a wider range of discussion than mainstream social media. Recently, however, the forum has felt like it has been moving toward the same heavily sanitized approach as platforms like TikTok or other large social media sites. While moderation is important, I think removing content that was never a significant issue pushes the community further in that direction and takes away some of what made it different.
In practice, gore was never a major problem on the forum. Very few users posted it, and the one member who was primarily responsible for most of it aka @
@Embryo is no longer active. Because of that, this change addresses an issue that had already largely disappeared on its own.
Gore isn't inherently harmful. Biologically, humans are wired to respond to blood and violence as a survival mechanism-our brains are built to process graphic imagery without long-term psychological damage. Gore builds character and makes you a stronger person people nowadays are to weak and would prob pass out holding their bleeding loved ones instead of taking action. Logically, if watching someone falling off a building caused PTSD, our ancestors wouldn't have survived humans are very strong and adaptive beings. If anything, consuming gore culturally reduces real-world violence by providing a safe outlet for primal impulses. Besides people who don't want to see won't bc it's correctly labelled and unlike porn it is NOT addictive.
Some may argue that gore has no place on a looksmaxxing forum. I don't think that's a fair criticism because I'm not suggesting it belong in looksmaxxing discussions or advice threads. I'm only advocating for it to be permitted in the Off Topic section, which already exists for conversations unrelated to looksmaxxing. In reality, a large portion of forum activity revolves around Off Topic socializing rather than strictly discussing looksmaxxing, so allowing it there would be consistent with the purpose of that section.
I'm also not asking for gore to be promoted or encouraged only that it remain an option within the designated Off Topic area for those who choose to view it. Users who aren't interested can simply avoid those threads.
Overall, I don't believe this ban solves a meaningful problem, since gore was rarely posted and was already becoming even less common. Reconsidering the policy for the Off Topic section would preserve the forum's broader culture without affecting the quality of its looksmaxxing content.
