Eyo this is my first serious post here. Ive been lurking and reading a ton of threads about growth, heightmaxxing, plates, etc, but I havent seen anyone talking about how hypermobility / connective tissue differences (DCT / hEDS / general hyper‑flexibility) actually influence growth. So I wanna put out something thats useful for those with Hypermoblity and DCT

1) What the Hell Is DCT / Hypermobility?

When most people say “hypermobility,” they think just bends joints more. But its deeper than that:
its about how your connective tissue (collagen and ligaments) works
this stuff affects how your bones grow, how your growtj plates close and even how your posture looks
People with DCT often have things like:

really bendy joints
bones that look “long” or proportions that feel off
mild structural differences like pectus excavatum
trouble gaining muscle compared to peers

Your muscle development lags behind what you eat (basically your ligaments are extra stretch so your muscles dont “feel” the load the same way as others making gains slower)

This isnt just flexibility its a whole way your skeleton develops

2) Growth Plates + Height Reality (as it actually is)

Most folks say “once you hit 16‑17 growth is basically done.” But thats just average. Doesnt mean its fixed

If your connective tissue signals differently like in DCT you can stay in a growth window longer. That doesnt mean you will blast +10-15 cm a lot of guys grow more after what others call “the end" (4-9cm)

From what Ive seen and personally experienced:
Your growth plates can stay less fused / slower to close
You can add a few more cm when most people think youre done
Some people with hypermobility hit growth later than their peers

Reality: its slow and natural, but its still growth potential.

3) Real Signs That You’re Still Growing

Heres what actually matters: (mostly you already know)

You’re still measuring growth

Your voice still cracks / isnt fully solid

Your muscle development lags behind what you eat

Your proportions are unusual (wide clavicles or long arms like +5-10cm longer than your height)

You have structural stuff like pectus excavatum/enamorus (swimming helps a LOT to get rid from this, at least from excavatum)

Important:
even if you have several of these signs the only way to really know if your growth plates are still open is through a hand Xray. This gives the most accurate insight into your growth potential

These black things are open growth plates. Im sure you know what it is. But if you dont you can look it up for more detailed information. This post if for those who didnt know about their DCT and hypermobility "speciality"
4) Staying Healthy with Hypermobility / DCT (IMPORTANT!)

Muscles not joints
carry your body: with stretchy ligaments. Your bones and joints rely on muscle strength for support. Overloading joints without strong muscles increases risk of sprains or chronic pain. (Your body is held together more by muscles than ligaments)
Sugar
. too much sugar can affect collagen and connective tissue quality so PLEASE controle the amount.

5) Final thoughts

A lot of people doom themselves way too early.

If you have signs of
hypermobility traits + late bloomer
there is a chance to grow taller than was expected.

No cope, just biology
