Everyone itt is using hypergamy to explain hypergamy - it's circular logic. If you want a real answer, it's due to natural selection or evolutionary psychology. Yes, men are more horny, but why? It's because the investment in producing offspring for men is cheap, extremely cheap. A man can father multiple children, all at the same time, all for the price of cheap genetic material he produces in a day. To proliferate his genes, it's in his mathematically determined best interests to get with any mate he can. Women, on the other hand, need to invest an extremely significant amount of time and energy to carrying and birthing a child. Without the advances of modern day medicine (which on the evolutionary timescale happened within a blink of an eye), this often times led to death during childbirth. The woman has a crucial duty to ensure that her chosen mate will provide and take care of her during this invest. It's in her best interest to not choose as many partners but the BEST partner; as such, women literally could not afford to NOT take up hypergamy as a strategy. It is the most successful strategy for our survival and reproduction as a species. This same pattern can be observed, not just in humans or apes, in a plethora of sexually reproducing species all across the domain of eukaryotes.

So yes, the reason why Stacy doesn't find the conventionally unattractive dude sexually appealing is due to evolution and natural selection alone. This isn't a conscious decision on her part, and it doesn't make her inherently evil. With that being said, there are also a lot of distasteful (from the perspective of modern western society) characteristics that men display also due to evolution and through no fault of the individual. That doesn't make him evil either.
