Why I never show my face anymore

There’s a reason I don’t show my face to people anymore.
Not because I’m ugly.
Not because I hate myself.
But because something broke in me, years ago.


In 2021, someone pretending to be a girl started talking to me online.
They said they were from the same city - even the same neighborhood.
They asked me for a picture.
I sent it.
They asked to meet up.
I said yes.


I showed up.
No one came.
And I found out it wasn’t a girl at all.
It was a guy - some random asshole who just thought it’d be funny.
Just a "joke".
Just "for fun".


Since then, something inside me refuses to do that ever again.
Even now - four and a half years later,
I feel that same fear.
The same sting in my stomach when someone says,

“Why won’t you just show your face?”
Because I already did once.
And someone laughed at it.

And yeah… I know not everyone is like that.
I know not everyone will hurt me.
But my body doesn’t care.
My trust doesn’t care.
That part of me still thinks:

“If you show yourself again, they’ll humiliate you again.”

i remember he briefly came back with a username that had "martian" in it but icr the rest of the username. He probably realised how autistic his videos looked and deleted, idk.
