why ima known in school when im quiet?

Ever since i started 8th grade (this year) alot of people i dont even know the name of called me by my name and said hello and dapped me up, they even asked me about stories which happened to me? mind you i never spoken or seen these people before, how do they even know this info about me?

last year (7th grade) i didnt attend a single day due to social anxiety, and ig back in 6th/5th grade i was a talkative kid back then, but that was such a long time ago, all these kids started freshly.

Weird asf, also when i went in the school building a girl i used to bully and her friend looked at me smiling like theyre not trying to laugh, i havent interacted with this foid in 2 years tho, i used to hit her back in 6th grade idk how thats relavent tho.

could there be rumors going on about me? since istg like more than 9 kids called me by my name which i NEVER met before
