Why is a butterfly knife illegal?

I got 2 butterfly knives (one being a live blade and the other one trainer) these shit are apparently illegal. Legal in some states but illegal in some. They're so sub-ideal for self defense imo

Yeah these shit are supposedly easy to draw and small and easy to conceal but a pocket knife is easier

Balisong is long tho like, it folds and gets smaller
