Why is advice online when it comes to dating/friends make it seem like it's a gargantuan task?

The same advice we always here is "work on yourself" for 5-10 years for noticeable results, they say after 1-2 years nothing will change, barely after 3-4 years, which is extremely demotivating.

I don't get how we have to bust our asses for years to get any kind of results while everyone else gets this just by going with the flow of life
