Where did you see this? Personally, here in my country most of the time they say to avoid it, but it's so fucking underground, obviously, because the government makes a lot of money with alcohol, cigarettes, and whatever else

I would say it's because now we are a lot more aware of how bad it is. 30-40 years ago in my country, abuse and alcohol was completely normal, it was the norm to beat your kids. Nowadays, it's a lot more criticised and rare. Even I stopped getting beaten by my mum a few years ago. A common reason for abuse is alcohol, it makes people impulsive and sparks arguments. It is associated with abuse, so it is just as criticised.

Also it makes you look worse
