It has it's pros and cons

The bad part about being a narcissist is that unless you are legit disordered and dysfunctional occasionally you will feel deep empathy welling up for other people and you realize how deeply empty all your vanity is and you will feel that maybe those who invest themselves deeply in others are on to something and that you are an unredeemable scoundrel

But also like this is also true in the reverse where people who act selflessly will occasionally realize they have missed out on this or that opportunity because they couldn't bring themselves emotionally to bring "harm" on someone else whether in reality or imagination and they will suffer the pains of regret, resentment and diminished power.

Either way there's really no issues because both are true. It's exciting and stimulating to be a narcissist but also emotionally empty. Just like it's comforting and reassuring to be perpetually concerned for others but also limiting. Both have their unique pros and cons and to the degree one is on either side of the extreme they will experience unique pleasures and pains associated with these attitudes that their opposite will lack.
