Why is being alone embarrassing

In school and outside of school I am alone. One activity that I do is walking because that is an activity that does not require friends and it's enjoyable with music. Only scary thing about walking is people your age walking past you. I feel embarrassed about to many things maybe because its an ego response I'm not sure.
