The thing I don't understand about it is that the process of becoming a fatass is fully temporary (by the logic of calories in, calories out).

BMR only increases slightly with weight gain so unless a fat person wants to continue growing in size, their only option is to consume slightly more than a normal person to be in a state of caloric maintenance.

How could anyone successfully delude themselves into thinking that's somehow worth it? You're trading looking like shit for slightly more calories, it doesn't make sense to me.
