Why is gambling seen as bad in religion?

I saw a video of a guy trying to explain and he said that money is “valuable” and gambling invalidates hard work so it is bad in religion.

I disagree as money holds no value hence people call it fiat. It’s not backed by gold or anything and is whatever the government want it to be. I do not agree really that it is valuable in any way, rather something used for transactions.

Am I wrong or did he explain it incorrectly?

Yes I’m talking about contemporary Christianity, just like it says women “shouldn’t speak” it’s all dependent on culture at the time.

That is why I was asking as I wonder why people still think gambling is bad when it is wildly different than what it was in the past

Me thinks the quality ot its negative moral status differs from faith to faith. If I remember correctly, it’s one of the 5 no-nos in Buddhism because it can distract the mind from the practice

It’s because it can become your god (addiction) and it can ruin your life if unlucky you can lose your house car etc

This is also good because it lowers the chance of the priest being a cunt and fucking your wife so if the husband goes to the priest he will tell him the answer to her question and he can relay it to her.

This is all done to protect women and keep the congregation working
