I am thinking of movies like Inception and Predestination. So many people like these movies and refuse to acknowledge the plot holes in the movies. They will even go to great lengths to create their own fan fiction to "explain" the plot holes. Or they will proclaim the writing super deep, and if you don't see the genius in the movie then you are a simpleton.
I have come to the conclusion some writers create movies and TV shows exclusively for these people. Shows that are very complex, and require a lot of attention, but ultimately don't make sense if you view the shows with a critical eye. Time travel is a common element of these shows.
