I get what you mean. Whenever I enter a new environment with new people there are always two outcomes, either those people end up liking me a decent amount or they act strange/cold towards me. I've observed that the ones who end up cool with me are usually my age, mostly male, and mostly academics. The ones who don't seem to like me are either younger/older than me, half/half male-female, and non-academics like ghetto bitches or something.
