Reading Music lol:
I'm watching Death Note with my brother (I am 17 and he is 23), and he was basically talking about how Light Yagami is evil since he had killed innocent people and had the potential to kill them in the future. Basically everyone says he is bad (On the internet). But I don't get it at all.
Like the only people he killed were people who prevented him from trying to kill a bunch of murderers, rapists, molesters, etc. And him killing all these people made criminals scared, which dropped the crime rate drastically, which is another benefit.
Also, what else is the alternative??
Let's say Light Yagami found the Death Note, figured out it was real and really worked, and then turned it into the police. Since he didn't actually know a notebook could kill people, he would be innocent. But then, who would get their hands on it? While many people would like to believe that they police / government would destroy it, the most likley outcome is that they would use it for their own gain.
"BREAKING NEWS! The political rival of the current president has died due to a heart attack
" or they could just kill anyone who speaks out against them, essentially creating a dictatorship.
I would much rather have a 17 year old psychopath have the Death Note than ever let the Government get their hands on such power.
And in the end of the day, Light Yagami still has good intentions, he wants to actually help people, he just has an insane God Complex.
The government would never kill people unless it directly helped whoever was in power.
Also, most people literally have no reason to be scared, since most people haven't done heinous crimes against humanity.
Even more, many of the same people who say Light Yagami is dangerous since one person is in power and can't be held accountable, are still team Captain America and not Team Iron Man. So you trust Captain America, which from a normal person's perspective in that universe, could also very well see Captain America as someone with the potential to become evil, corrupted and hurt people who are innocent too. So why is there this double standard for Light Yagami?
I don't know, I like the show anyways though. Just random ramblings before bed.
